My name is Mauro Bianucci
I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina and graduated in Architecture there.
I moved to New York in 2000 and worked at a small firm where we split our work between residential and retail. Our retail clients were mostly fragrance / cosmetics (Aveda, Stila, Lauder, Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors, Kenneth Cole, Lab Series…) and fashion (Oscar de la Renta, Calvin Klein, Tibi…)
In 2007 I moved to Barcelona and divided my time between Carga and my own design and architectural practice, doing mostly local residential work.
Since 2014 most of my work has been as the Architectural arm behind Powershovel, a boutique creative firm from Brooklyn. Our main client is Le Labo who, when I started, had just been bought by the Estee Lauder Group and they were starting a global expansion. So far we have completed and opened around 200 stores (from their big flagship in Williamsburg and stand-alone stores to shop-in-shops, retail counters and travel retail - and we have another 50 or so to complete this year. Together with Powershovel, my team and I have also done all the stores for Natura, the Brazilian cosmetics brand.
